The South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) was established in 2002. SAEON is a research platform funded by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF). SAEON serves as a national platform for detecting, translating and predicting environmental change through scientifically designed observation systems and research.
Our network consists of 34 sites, 225 stations, 693 instruments, 1,277 sensors, 44 phenomena, 26 offerings, 28 units of measure, 115 variables, 1,294 datasets and 59,953,301 verified observations.
