Observations Database
The South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) was established in 2002. SAEON is a research platform funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF). SAEON serves as a national platform for detecting, translating and predicting environmental change through scientifically designed observation systems and research.
Our network consists of 36 sites, 267 stations, 966 instruments, 1,725 sensors, 59 phenomena, 29 offerings, 31 units of measure, 141 variables, 1,489 datasets and 67,803,790 verified observations.
