The South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) was established in 2002. SAEON is a research platform funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF). SAEON serves as a national platform for detecting, translating and predicting environmental change through scientifically designed observation systems and research.
Our network consists of 34 sites, 229 stations, 703 instruments, 1,304 sensors, 44 phenomena, 26 offerings, 28 units of measure, 115 variables, 1,299 datasets and 60,857,218 verified observations.
