The South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) was established in 2002. SAEON is a research platform funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF). SAEON serves as a national platform for detecting, translating and predicting environmental change through scientifically designed observation systems and research.
Our network consists of 35 sites, 258 stations, 736 instruments, 1,381 sensors, 44 phenomena, 27 offerings, 28 units of measure, 116 variables, 1,354 datasets and 62,119,327 verified observations.
